As a daughter and a sister to Emily Carr graduates, Sonya Wright was bound to follow in her families footsteps and become a graduate herself. With her passion and enthusiasm for art Sonya has over the years successfully found a niche market to display her talents. With her creative ability to design, Sonya initiates her projects with painting and sketching out her patterns, she then carves stamp blocks of her work that she uses to create scarfs and t-shirts. Her company, Back of the Moon, was inspired by her mother, as she would take Sonya's drawings as a kid and carve a pattern stamp of it and make pillows, and t-shirts from them. With a creative family foundation, Sonya has been able to make a studio out of her family garage and sell her merchandise from home. Although being a young artist has its challenges, Sonya finds comfort in knowing she has the love and support of her family and believes that she will find success in the future to hopefully open up her own store.
